Mrs.Sands Educational Philosophy
I believe that all children can learn, although in different ways and at differant rates.  All children should be treated as equals, despite their learning needs and gifts.  Every student deserves to be cared for.  It is my responsibility to respect and care for my students.  I believe that Special Education is an extension of services, which help children to learn, and help them to become productive citizens. I fully support inclusion and the education of all students in the most appropriate, least restrictive enviornment.

My goal as a Special Education teacher is to prepare my students for a successful life outside of school.  That means that I want my students to function at the best of their ability with their peers and in their community.  Teachers are powerful people.  When a school community functions as a team along with parents, good things happen for children.
